“I worked with Tim as a member of The Leap Labs team refining the UX and UI design during a one month engagement at Tigera here in our office in San Francisco. He was a hardworking individual, engaged well in understanding some of the most complex aspects of our products, and was a key team member when it came to creating UI prototypes to explore the best options for our design. I greatly enjoyed working with him.”

Alex Pollitt, Founder and VP Engineering at Tigera

"We hired Tim to conduct a 'root to branch' analysis of our UX / UI and propose remediation.  Working closely with the JawDrop stakeholders and Development Team, Tim efficiently identified improvements and designed a completely new interface.  The end product was better than we hoped.  Tim is exceptionally talented and a joy to work with.  We look forward to working with him again!"

Jay Shah, Founder at JawDrop

“Tim and I collaborated together during The Leap Lab's UX project for Cloudpost Networks. I was in charge of the User Interface development for Cloudpost Networks at that time. He participated in many design discussions and prototyped many of the design ideas. He is very organized and articulate in the thought process, has great insight into the intricacies of various UX/UI operational aspects we have. He is very pleasant to work with and a great listener. It was a great pleasure working with Tim.”

Sheausong Yang, Co-founder, Chief Scientist at Cloudpost Networks, Inc.

My Working Process

Define
Conduct workshops with client to define the task and gather functionality requirements
If possible conduct user studies to gain more insight. If not, then use knowledge of best practice and industry standard to guide design
Sketch out main use cases on a whiteboard and conduct question and answer sessions to further probe main use cases and define user journeys
Study a sales demo of the product or existing version of it (if available) to understand the functionalities required and the information architecture
Design
Create and present low fidelity prototypes based on discussions from the Define phase as conversation pieces to further explore or confirm how the product will work
Use the confirmed low fidelity prototypes to define elements required for design and translate them to high fidelity
High fidelity designed use cases are prototyped to provide a chance to iterate any issues before labour intensive coding begins
Deliver
Use the collection of use cases tackled to define the entire scope of the product
Deliver written out use cases with high fidelity prototypes and designs to be used as build plans for developers

Work History

I started learning about UX in 2015 and soon realised that I had finally found an industry that satisfied my need for structure, reason and aesthetics. A lot of the skills I picked up I have to attribute to my time working at The Leap Labs from 2015 to 2017, where I was involved with 12 different clients in two years.
