The Details

Simplifying the Documentation
JawDrop had already been tackling this project with two previous UX designers and already had a development team building the app as the project progressed. When we were hired to complete the project they already had an extensive functionality requirements doc to work from. I translated parts of this document into a more easily consumable matrix or into simplified lists.
Through workshops with JawDrop team members and studying the functionalities document we could create wireframes of all the assets required. We recorded our progress in a living document built with Axure. We identified the various modules of the app and broke them down into their component parts. Our wireframes acted as a checklist for the design team and as a heads up for the development team.
Partial High Fidelity
As the document grew, assets from the app were iterated from low to high fidelity and put through design and prototyping multiple times. High fidelity prototypes were extremely helpful in illustrating the build direction for the overseas development team during video chat meetings.
High Fidelity Results
The result of breaking down the task and working through it methodically meant that assets and use cases weren't lost in the rapid iterations and every person working on this project could keep track of what the next task was. The documentation as well as the prototypes were used to keep the development side of things on track after The Leap Labs formally disengaged. I did provide some help with bug testing in early releases afterwards though.

My Personal Contribution:
Assess what work had been already done by previous designers and the level to which it had been done.
Hold workshops with the client throughout the project to better understand their requirements and vision for their app. Also workshops helped to keep interations on target and within the vision of the client
Help the team lead with low fidelity prototyping to then use to generate feedback from the client snd iterate through design and Information Architecture of the app
Pass low fidelity assets to design team members for high fidelity design
Integrate high fidelity designs into prototypes and present to the client
Use high fidelity prototypes, style sheets in Zeplin and meetings over phone to guide developers on the new build
Test the app build and provide feedback to the development team for improvements, corrections or updates
The Final Say
"We hired Tim to conduct a 'root to branch' analysis of our UX / UI and propose remediation.  Working closely with the JawDrop stakeholders and Development Team, Tim efficiently identified improvements and designed a completely new interface.  The end product was better than we hoped.

Tim is exceptionally talented and a joy to work with.  We look forward to working with him again!"
